James Venter captains a Gloucester side missing several key leaders, including club captain Tomos Williams and vice-captains Arthur Clark and Seb Atkinson. 

Despite the absences, Gloucester’s set-piece dominance has stood out in the early season — the club led the latest round in scrums won (10) and lineout throws secured (17), while Will Joseph ranked second in the league for defenders beaten (17). 

Those figures underscore the team’s forward strength and attacking intent.

The Bristol Bears, meanwhile, continue to lead the competition in carries (462) and offloads (51), showing their attacking flair even amid injuries. 

The Bears’ set-piece remains a weapon too — Gabriel Oghre has achieved a perfect line-out success rate and leads the league in throws won (38).

Gloucester head coach George Skivington’s squad will rely on Venter’s work rate, as he leads the league in ruck entries (97). 

Bristol welcomes the return of Steven Luatua, joining Fitz Harding and Viliame Mata in a powerful back row, while young fly-half Sam Worsley replaces the suspended Tom Jordan. 

Both sides have much to prove in this regional rivalry, with attacking firepower and physical collisions expected throughout.
