Towson women’s basketball begins the 2025-26 season with a familiar mission — climb the Coastal Athletic Association standings and make it deep into the postseason.

After finishing 12-20 overall and 8-10 in conference play a year ago, the Tigers showed flashes of what head coach Laura Harper’s system can deliver: tempo, rebounding dominance, and defensive toughness. 

Towson finished the season with two CAA Tournament victories and proved they can compete with any team.

Harper, who continues to build the program around energy and player development, returns a senior-heavy roster led by India Johnston, Semaya Turner, and Kayla Morris. 

Johnston was the team’s top scorer last season at 12.5 points per game, while Turner and Morris combined for more than nine rebounds per game. The Tigers’ balanced scoring approach will again rely on ball movement and attacking the paint — a style that fits well with new additions and depth across every position.

Towson’s 2025-26 non conference schedule offers stiff challenges against Virginia Tech, Maryland and Georgetown, with home matchups against Frostburg State, Stetson and Coppin State to establish early rhythm. 

By the time CAA play begins in January, the Tigers should have a better sense of how their experience and defense translate into results in a league that continues to rise in national quality.

Towson dominated the glass in 2024-25, averaging 38.2 rebounds per game and out-rebounding opponents by nearly two per contest — a reflection of its interior strength.
