Hampton men’s basketball enters the 2025-26 season determined to continue its climb in the Coastal Athletic Association under head coach Ivan Thomas. 

After finishing 17-16 overall last year, the Pirates showed they could compete with the league’s best, closing the season with key wins over Drexel, Hofstra and UNCW. The pieces are in place for Hampton to take another step forward.

Former All-CAA Third Team guard Noah Farrakhan led the Pirates after averaging 14.2 points and shooting 43 percent from the field in 2024-25. In his absence, All-CAA preseason team honorable mention Daniel Johnson gives Hampton offensive prowess that can attack off the dribble and from the perimeter.

In the paint, Xzavier Long (6.6 points, 5.0 rebounds) anchors a frontcourt that helped Hampton average 36.2 rebounds per game. With depth, experience, and an aggressive defensive mindset, the Pirates look primed to make noise in conference play this winter.

Hampton out-rebounded its opponents by 3.4 boards per game, averaging more than 36 rebounds per contest — a major strength in the team’s physical defensive approach last season.
