Drexel enters the 2025-26 season looking to make another push in the Coastal Athletic Association after posting an 18-15 record a year ago.

The Dragons were competitive throughout the conference slate, finishing 9-9 in league play, and return a roster that blends tested veterans with emerging contributors. Head coach Zach Spiker, entering his 10th year in Philadelphia, continues to shape a program defined by rebounding strength and defensive grit.

Drexel was among the CAA leaders in rebounding margin last season, and with experienced players back in the rotation, expectations remain steady. Fans can anticipate a schedule filled with both marquee nonconference games and the intensity of CAA competition.

1. Zach Spiker’s Decade of Leadership

Now in his 10th season, Head Coach Zach Spiker has guided Drexel to five straight winning campaigns—the program’s longest streak since 1997. Under his leadership, the Dragons have earned 14 All-CAA selections and the 2023-24 Philadelphia Big 5 Coach of the Year honor. Spiker’s ability to adapt and recruit elite talent has solidified Drexel as a consistent contender in the Coastal Athletic Association.

2. Defensive Dominance and Rim Protection

Drexel’s defense anchored its success last season, leading the CAA in blocks with 150—more than double its opponents’ total. That rim-protecting presence helped the Dragons stay in tight games and maintain their identity as one of the league’s toughest defensive units.

3. Balanced, Efficient Offense

The Dragons’ 2024-25 offense combined efficiency with versatility. Drexel averaged 70.4 points per game while shooting 45.8% from the floor and 36% from three—both top marks in the CAA. Their 254 made threes showcased strong perimeter balance, while a +4 rebounding edge per game emphasized toughness on the glass. That offensive balance powered Drexel to an 18-win season and extended its home-court winning streak to 13.
