UTPB Defense, Kanon Gibson Power Falcons Past Angelo State In Texas Clash

No. 9 UT Permian Basin’s elite defense paired with Kanon Gibson’s playmaking ability helped the Falcons put away the No. 6 Angelo State Rams in a Top 10 clash in Texas.

ASU quarterback Braeden Fuller returned under center, but was unable to get a rhythm going on offense, as the Ram’s possessions often faltered with a turnover on downs or a punt.

Gibson, for his part, was able to rush for three touchdowns, while going 27-42 and 293 passing yards. Gibson was also picked off twice by the Angelo State defense, but at least once the Rams were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after the play.

ASU was only able to muster 183 pass yards and 69 rush yards against a suffocating UTPB defense that seems to travel well.

UTPB will take the conference lead and should find themselves higher in the polls come next week, as they knock off No. 6 Angelo State in San Angelo with a final score of 28-14.
