FCS Football Roundup: Here's What To Know About FCS This Week
Week 5 of the NCAA D1 season is upon us. As the FCS schools prepare to step into battle, here is a look at the top things to know heading into the weekend!

In an already eventful 2025 season, NCAA football keeps moving right along. In D1, the FCS schools are pulling out all of the stops in the early weeks.
From huge wins, crazy upsets and nail-biters until the very end, the FCS schools are showing up and showing out and Week 5 will be no different.

FloCollege is home to CAA and Butler football for the 2025 season and with both groups in action for Week 5, a new roundup is just what the football fans ordered. After last week’s FCS roundup, more chaos has commenced and there is a lot to talk about as Week 5 is approaching.
So, without further ado, buckle up, and let’s get into this FCS roundup.
The FCS Football Rankings Review
For another week, three CAA schools have found themselves in the AFCA Coaches poll Top-25 heading into the Week 5 contests.
Rhode Island, Monmouth and Villanova all find themselves in the rankings in various places and most have shifted since the last rankings review. Rhode Island dropped to tenth in the rankings after being previously ranked seventh. Monmouth jumps up to 12th after being previously ranked 14th. Villanova also climbed in the Top-25, moving to 19th after being previously ranked 22nd.

A Glimpse At This Week’s CAA Matchups
With all of the CAA action slated to begin as early as 1:00PM ET on Saturday, Oct. 4, here is a look at all things CAA football and the top matches to be aware of heading into the new week of NCAA football!
No.19 Villanova vs. New Hampshire
One of the earliest CAA matchups of the week sees No.19-ranked Villanova travel to New Hampshire to take on the Wildcats in Wildcat Stadium.
In a self-proclaimed ‘Battle of the Wildcats,’ Villanova heads into the contest 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in CAA play. The Wildcats picked up a victory on Sept. 27 against William & Mary, 31-24. In the victory, Villanova tallied 426 yards of offense. Quarterback Pat McQuaide was 15-for-28 on pass completion with 194 yards.
New Hampshire heads into the contest 3-2 overall and 1-0 in CAA play after taking a victory over UAlbany on Sept. 27 In the 24-6 victory, the Wildcats tallied 308 yards of offense. Quarterback Matt Vezza was 19-for-24 on pass completion with 190 yards and one passing touchdown.
Stony Brook vs. UAlbany
The second game CAA fans should keep their eyes on this week is when Stony Brook takes on UAlbany.
The Seawolves head into the contest 2-3 overall and 0-1 in CAA play. Stony Brook picked up a win on Sept. 27 against Merrimack. In the 35-10 victory, the Seawolves tallied 438 yards of offense. Quarterback Chris Zellous was 13-for-22 on pass completion with 167 yards and one touchdown toss.
The Great Danes head into the contest 1-4 overall and 0-1 in CAA play. After opening CAA action on Sept. 27 against New Hampshire, the Great Danes walked away with a 24-6 loss. In the loss, UAlbany tallied 275 yards of offense.
Norfolk State vs. Hampton
Another notable matchup for Week 5 is when Norfolk State takes on Hampton for the Battle of the Bay.
Norfolk enters the contest 1-4 on the season and will open CAA play in the Battle of the Bay. On Sept. 27, the Spartans traveled to take on Wagner where they were narrowly defeated 18-13. In the loss, Norfolk tallied 293 yards of offense. Starting quarterback Otto Kuhns was 17-for-28 with 119 yards and one touchdown pass.
Hampton enters the contest 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in CAA play. In the most recent loss to Elon, 41-20, the Pirates tallied 373 yards of offense. Starting quarterback Braden Davis was 14-for-27 on pass completion with 194 yards and one touchdown pass.
Elon vs. Towson
The final matchup that CAA fans should keep their eyes peeled for is when Elon travels to take on Towson.
Elon is 3-2 overall and 1-0 in CAA play. The Phoenix entered the contest after opening CAA play with a victory over Hampton on Sept. 27, 41-20. In the win, Elon tallied 457 yards of offense. Landen Clark was 10-for-23 with 169 yards and one touchdown.
Towson enters the contest 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in CAA play. The Tigers are hoping to continue the winning momentum after winning a tight contest against Bryant on Sept. 27, 26-24. In the victory, Towson tallied 304 yards of offense. Andrew Indorf was 17-for-31 on pass completion with 153 yards and one touchdown.
The Butler Bulldog Bark
FloCollege isn’t just the home of CAA football! It also is the home of the Butler Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are currently 3-2 on the 2025 season and will continue PFL play on Oct. 4 against St. Thomas.
Butler will travel to take on St. Thomas. The Bulldogs come into the contest after an opening week of PFL play and a 31-28 victory over Marist. In the contest, Butler tallied 376 yards of offense. Quarterback Reagan Andrew was 17-for-27 on pass completion with 151 yards and three touchdown passes.
