Two of the top D2 football teams in the country are scheduled to kickoff at 4 p.m. ET at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium as UNC Pembroke vs Valdosta State hits your screens live on FloCollege and the FloSports app.

With just one loss each, both teams are looking to add another tally in the win column and establish themselves as a confirmed top-25 team in the division.

UNC Pembroke has received votes the last two weeks in the AFCA D2 Football Coaches poll, while Valdosta State started the season No. 12 and took a big fall after losing closely to Johnson C. Smith, 28-16. 

The Blazers rebounded well, defeating Chowan 56-3 in their last game two weekends ago.

North Carolina Pembroke vs Valdosta St Football By The Numbers

UNC Pembroke football season started tough with a challenging road game against Wingate, losing 21-30 after a late 4th quarter field goal put the score out of reach for Tre Robinson and the UNCP offense. The next two games were also close, though, winning with a gap of just 7 and 4 points over Fayetteville State and No. 16 Delta State.

Last week, UNCP defeated Ferrum 41-14 marking their best start since 2016.

UNCP's three wins in a row will set them up to once again hit the road for a challenging road game against a tough opponent in Valdosta State.

The Blazers started their season with all of the pressure in the world: ranked in the top 15 across multiple polls with three road games in a row; two of which are against opponents with more than 7 wins in 2024. Third downs have been a struggle

The history between these two teams is not extensive, however it is interesting that they haven't played each other since 2016. UNC Pembroke holds the series lead at the moment, 2-1, and has won both games in Georgia.
