Founded in 2014, the Indy Fuel are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. The Fuel had their best regular-season finish in 2024, placing second in the Central division, but lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Now, head coach Duncan Dalmao is looking to get the Fuel to win a playoff series, something they have never done in their short history. Thorne was named head coach on Sep 16, earning the job after spending two successful years with the Brampton Steelheads.
