Week 2 of NCAA D3 college football is in the books! It is crazy to think that just two weeks ago we were without college football and now, it is almost the end of September and football is back like it never left.

In an eventful Week 2, several D3 teams lived up to their expectations, while several fell just short. It also was the opening weekend of football for some D3 schools like St.John’s and North Central (Ill.).

With Week 3 on the horizon, there is so much football to look forward to at the D3 level. From a Top-5 matchup to the start of conference play for several of the D3 conferences, it will be another action-packed weekend of football.

A Glimpse At This Week’s Matchups

With all of the D3 matchups scheduled for kickoff as early as 12:00 PM ET on Sept. 20, here is a look at some of the most anticipated matches in the D3 football calendar.

No. 3 Johns Hopkins vs. No. 4 Susquehanna

It only took three weeks into the D3 football season to see a Top-5 matchup and this one has to be the most anticipated in all of D3 football for the weekend of Sept. 20. Based on the rankings from D3football.com, No.3-ranked Johns Hopkins will hit the road to take on No.4-ranked Susquehanna in Selinsgrove, PA.

Both the BlueJays and the Riverhawks are 2-0 on the season and are heading into their final weeks of non-conference play. Susquehanna will play host for the third week in a row before finally hitting the road for its first away game on Sept. 27. This will be the second road test for Johns Hopkins after opening the season on the road in Ithaca, NY.

In a Top-5 matchup, who will walk away victorious? Only time will tell for these D3 powerhouses.

Chapman vs. Linfield

A battle of the Cats will take place in Week 3 of football as Chapman will head on the road to take on Linfield. Both teams have gotten off to a rocky start in the early 2025 season. Both Linfield and Chapman are 0-1 to start the season after each taking opening week losses.

The Chapman Panthers played their last contest on Sept. 6 against Hardin Simmons where they lost 37-30. The Linfield Panthers played their last contest on Sept. 6 also, there the Panthers took a loss to UW-Oshkosh, 31-14.

Both teams are searching for their first win of the 2025 season on Sept. 20. Who will be the top cat in D3 football this week?
