Northeastern vs UConn: Battle of the Huskies In College Volleyball
Week 3 brings a Husky showdown as Northeastern and UConn meet with a 3-3 series tie. UConn rides a six-game streak, while NU looks to break through.

This weekend brings the battle of the Huskies in college volleyball. Northeastern and UConn volleyball share more than just their mascot — they share an even 3-3 tie in their history of play against each other. On Sept. 14, the tie will be broken in a matchup between these rivals.
Northeastern has played a fairly consistent season so far. The team recovered from a loss to Fordham (1-3) with back-to-back wins against Columbia (3-1) and New Haven (3-2) in the Big Apple Tournament. That marked their second straight weekend with two wins and one loss.
Players Kaylin Daniels and Valentina Meirelles managed 12 and 11 kills, respectively, while Nadia Koanui, the week one CAA Defensive Player of the Week, showcased more of her power with six aces in the game against Columbia.

Despite a solid start to the season, Northeastern is in for a tough fight against UConn, which is riding a six-game winning streak. UConn also faced Fordham in the first week of play and walked away with a 3-0 sweep. The team shows no preference for home or away games, remaining undefeated regardless. Their latest win came at home in a 3-1 match against Colgate.
Both teams will face Yale and Fairfield right before meeting each other. Those matches could be an indicator of who will tilt the Northeastern-UConn historic score in their favor. But the passion of a Husky rivalry may be just what the teams need to show the next level of play.
