The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) earned a thrilling 27-24 road win over Lycoming football on Saturday, Sept. 6, at David Person Field at Girardi Stadium, in a game filled with momentum swings and late drama.

TCNJ struck first, opening with a field goal and touchdown before Lycoming answered with a run from T. Oliver. The Lions stayed aggressive in the second quarter, adding a safety and another touchdown, but the Warriors kept pace with strong drives from M. VanHorn and a stingy defense that held TCNJ at the goal line. By halftime, the Lions held a narrow 21-14 lead.

Lycoming battled back in the second half, tying the game at 21 with a score from S. Ferguson, then taking its first lead of the day on a 40-yard field goal by V. Granitto in the fourth quarter. But with just over two minutes remaining, TCNJ’s K. Vellis connected with E. Garv for a 42-yard touchdown strike to reclaim the lead. On Lycoming’s ensuing possession, J. Kurc sealed the win with a game-changing interception. A final kneel down ran out the clock, securing the Lions’ 27-24 victory and a resilient statement about their ability to finish strong in high-pressure moments.
