In their second home game of the season, the Carson-Newman Eagles took down South Carolina Central Christian College in an exhibition game, dominating the Gladiators. Though it won't go on their season record, it allowed several young players to see the field, gaining key experience for a team looking to make a big playoff impact. 

Fresh off a big Week 0 win, the Eagles are looking to continued their success against a Gladiator team that started the season 0-1. 2024 was the Eagles' first playoff appearance in five years, and they're looking to continue that streak. 

The Eagles dominated the Gladiators from the opening kick and are looking to use that experience for the rest of the 2025 season.

Carson-Newman Wins 59-0

The triple zeros are on the clock and the Eagles dominated from the opening kick, allowing a hoard of Eagles to take the field and earn important playing time. Five different players scored rushing touchdowns and three quarterbacks took snaps, with one throwing a touchdown. 

Though this was an exhibition game that won't go on Carson-Newman's record, it was an important game for building confidence.

Eagles In Victory Formation

The Eagles have knelt the ball three times, and will come out with a 59-0 win. The Eagles held the Gladiators to 74 total yards of offense and forced four turnovers that led to 21 points.

Carson Bissell punches it in from the two yard line to extend Carson-Newman's lead to 59-0.


End Third Quarter

With 15 minutes left to play, this game is all Carson-Newman. The Gladiators turned the ball over twice deep in their own territory, giving the Eagles prime field position, including one fumble in the end zone. The Gladiators had -10 yards in the third quarter and the Eagles lead 52-0.

Carson-Newman Recovers In The End Zone

After a delay-of-game penalty pushed the Gladiators up against their own goal line, the Eagles forced a fumble and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown. The Eagles lead 52-0.

The Gladiators force a turnover on downs deep into the red zone, keeping the Eagles from extending their lead.

Once again, the Gladiators fumble the handoff and the Eagles recover it deep in Gladiator territory,

Bennet Smith Field Goal

Bennett Smith drilled a 44-yard field goal straight down the middle of the uprights, extending Carson-Newman's lead to 45-0.


Carson-Newman Starts Second Half Strong

Out of the break, the Eagles needed just five plays for Jaden Jones to punch in a 30-yard touchdown, extending their lead to 42-0.


Halftime

Carson-Newman leads 35-0 after the first half, and the Eagles have out-gained the Gladiators 259-71 in total yards of offense.

After a slow second quarter, the Eagles respond with a touchdown by Keithan Washington to extend their lead to 35-0.

The Eagles defense gets a stop of their own, and the Eagles will start at their own 30.

SCCCC Defense Comes Up Big

The SCCCC defense comes up with a big fourth down stop, and gets the ball back at their own 39.

Gladiators Give The Ball Back

An intentional grounding penalty and tough defense leads the Gladiators to punt. The Eagles will take over at the Gladiators' 48.

Carson-Newman Punts

Unable to convert on third down, the Eagles punted and the Gladiators will get the ball at their own 40 yard line.

End Of First Quarter

This game has been all Carson-Newman, as the Eagles have scored on every drive tonight. SCCCC has turned the ball over deep in their own territory twice, leading to two quick scores by the Eagles.

Carson-Newman leads 28-0.

Cam Ferguson Adds A Score

The offensive line parted the Gladiator defense like the Red Sea and Cam Ferguson had a clear path to the end zone, finding the end zone from 29 yards out. Eagles lead 28-0.


Another Gladiator Fumble

The Gladiators fumble the ball for the second time, and the Eagles recover. Carson-Newman starts will the ball at the Gladiator 29-yard line.

Eagles Add Another Quick Score

After the Gladiators punted, the Eagles gained 45 yards on the first play of the drive, needing just two plays to score. A screen pass to Griffin was followed by a quarterback keeper by Zane Whitson, who had a clear path to the end zone from 28 yards out. Eagles lead 21-0 with 6:33 left in the first quarter.


Cade Meeks House Call

On third-and-10, Mario Sanchez finds a wide open Cade Meeks who takes the ball to the house for a 61-yard score. Carson-Newman leads 14-0.


SCCC 3 And Out

After gaining one first down and having their drive extended with penalties, the Eagles defense came away with the stop. The Gladiators punt and the Eagles get the ball at their own 39. 

Carson-Newman Touchdown 

The Eagles needed just two plays to score, with Jaden Griffin punching in a 13-yard run. The Eagles lead 7-0.


Gladiators Fumble

The Gladiators fumble on the handoff on their own 15, and Carson-Newman recovers. The Eagles will get the ball at the 15.

Coin Toss

Carson-Newman wins the toss and defers, the South Carolina Central Christian Gladiators will start with the ball.
