While Averett football is taking an unorthodox approach to their quarterback situation, could it be what they need in 2025 to win some games in the ODAC? After going 3-7 overall and 1-6 in ODAC play in 2024, Averett is looking to have a stronger season in 2025. 

In 2024, Ethan Ross and Louie De Iulio split time but neither played in all 10 games. In four games, Ross threw for 585 yards and four touchdowns on 38 completions as a freshman. In seven games, De Iulio threw for 305 yards and one touchdown.

Though he’s listed at wide receiver, Trevor Testerman threw for 242 yards and one touchdown as well as rushing for 154 yards and four touchdowns. A true Swiss Army Knife, he caught 22 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns. 

This group of players is all returning, and looking to lead Averett to a winning season after going 3-7 in 2024. On the ground, Gaby Soto is looking to have a big impact again after his 618 yard and four touchdown junior season. 

While the offense has several returning players, the defense is stretched thin, with no top tacklers returning. The top defensive player returning is Joziah Campbell, who as a freshman picked off six passes to lead the ODAC. 

With head coach Patrick Henry going into his sixth season, he’s still looking for his first winning season and hopes this group of veterans could be the one to lead him there.
