Washington & Lee football is set to be a solid contender in the ODAC in 2025, returning several top players, including quarterback Ty Collins. Going into his junior season, Collins has already established himself as a premier quarterback in the conference, looking to lead the Generals to an ODAC Title.

The Generals are led by Garrett LeRose, who is going into his seventh season as head coach. He has a 39-23 overall record and has not had a losing season. Under him, Washington and Lee has won one ODAC Championship, and is now hungry for another.

After a third place finish in conference play, LeRose led the Generals to win the Cape Henry Bowl and finished with a 7-4 record in 2024.

A run-heavy offense, the Generals lost top running back Jacob Romero to graduation but are returning Anthony Crawford, who is set to have a breakout season. As a sophomore, Crawford ran for 564 yards and punched in nine touchdowns.

The dual threat capabilities of Collins can stretch defenses thin, and with talented receivers, his options are plenty.

Josh Garcia is the top returning receiver and he had 11 catches for 143 yards and one touchdown in 2024. Ian Evans had 12 catches for 104 yards, rounding out the receivers. While the majority of the Generals’ offense happens on the ground, Collins has several weapons he can throw to.

On defense, the linebacker duo of Brennan Stout and Will Mahmud is returning for another year. The paid combined for 136 tackles and Stout had 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks while Mahmoud had 11 tackles for loss and six sacks.
