The 2025 NCAA DI women's soccer season began on Thursday night, and wasted no time bringing drama and energy to the pitch.

Several ranked teams faced off and while some avoided upsets, others weren't so fortunate. The main drama of the night came when Tennessee took down the reigning champions and No. 1 North Carolina 2-0, with the Tar Heels playing their first game ever without the legendary head coach Anson Dorrance.
