The 2025 NCAA D2 Football season is set to kick off on Thursday, Aug. 28 as the top teams, including No. 1 Ferris State Football will take the field during Week 1. Looking to defend their title, the Bulldogs are the top team going into the 2025 season,  receiving 30 first-place votes.

Among the top 25 are several expected names including Grand Valley State at No. 3, Valdosta State at No. 12 and Lenoir-Rhyne at No. 17. While there were no undefeated teams in 2024, Ferris State's 14-1 record was enough to take them win to the National Championship and now they're looking to do it again.
