Coming off their best season since 2019, the WPI Engineers are primed to enter the 2025 season with confidence and poise. They went undefeated at home and posted a 6-4 overall, 4-3 conference record in 2024 as head coach Chris Robertson remained at the helm for his 15th year.

Graduate student and quarterback Mike Ingraffia threw for 1,720 yards and 24 touchdowns through all 10 games, leading the Engineers to their first winning season in five years. 

His right-hand wide receiver, Jay Mezzo, averaged the most receiving yards per game with 42.2 and was second in receiving touchdowns with six. Mezzo and Aaron Skaling both combined for over 800 receiving yards on the year. 

However, the star of the squad was on the defensive side. Tight end Douglas Cain hauled in 605 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, and was listed as one of two athletes from WPI on the 2024 All-Region I Team. Defensive end Gavin Chieff also made the list, catching four interceptions and defending 10 passes. 

The 2025 WPI roster has not yet been confirmed, but key players such as Ingraffia, Mezzo, Gain, and Chieff are all seniors or graduate students who might not return for the Engineers.
