Armed with several veterans, the Central Washington Wildcats look to be a favorite to win the Lone Star Conference in 2025 after falling just short last season. Led by head coach Chris Fisk, who is going into his seventh season as head coach, Central Washington has all of the keys for success and tools to win games not just in conference play, but in the NCAA DII Playoffs.

Fisk has a 38-20 record over his career, and in 2021 was named the GNAC Coach of the Year. He has taken his team to the playoffs several times, and is looking to win a playoff game next.

The Wildcats went 8-4 overall and 7-2 in conference play in 2024 and barely missed out on the championship. Their two conference losses came by as many points as they were upset by the UT Permian Basin Falcons and then lost to the eventual champions in Angelo State.

Looking forward to the 2025 season, the defense is strong, led by redshirt junior Brycen Indell, who had 55 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery at linebacker. Daniel Matagi, a defensive lineman, had 38 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble, fumble recovery and blocked kick.

Behind them at defensive back, Chase Coalson had 49 tackles, five tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and one pass break up, holding down the secondary.

On offense, Kennedy McGill started every game under center as a redshirt freshman in 2024, accumulating nearly 3,000 total offensive yards. He threw for 1,724 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also leading the team in rushing with 1,206 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Running back Tyler Flanagan is also set to have another big season in his final year of eligibility. He ran for 1000 yards and punched in 14 touchdowns, leading the team in scoring.
