Find out when West Florida Football begins the 2025 season and who they must conquer to see a Gulf South Conference title.

West Florida Football has hefty expectations for the 2025 season, but for good reason. A young roster stepped up in 2024 under a new head coach in what was a year of rebuilding, but it turned out fine for the Argonauts, who went 7-3 overall.

Former offensive coordinator Kaleb Nobles took over as head coach ahead of the 2024 season and helped guide his former alma mater to a No. 2 standing in the Gulf South Conference and almost to the title, if not for a loss to the No. 1-ranked Valdosta State.

Now, West Florida will return five of its best players, including starting quarterback Marcus Stokes. The redshirt freshman made his debut as a starter last season and threw for just over 1,500 yards, 14 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Strokes had plenty of options to get the ball down the field and will be reunited with all four of them: two wide receivers in Corey Scott and Javon Swinton and two running backs in TJ Lane and Jay Sharp.

With fewer competition within the GSC, now that the conference has moved from eight to four teams, West Florida looks primed to take the conference championship if it can defeat Valdosta State.
