The departure of two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner Zach Zebrowski (Central Missouri) leaves a wide-open race to be the top quarterback in NCAA Division II during the 2025 college football season.

Although the recipient of the top individual offensive honor in the game is gone, Div. II football is hardly lacking for proven playmakers to take up the mantle.

Get to know 10 of the best quarterbacks Div. II football has to offer for the 2025 season.

Camden Dean, Sioux Falls

The Northern Sun features a variety of outstanding veteran quarterbacks in 2025 — so much so that Camden Dean, who passed for almost 2,200 yards and rushed for nearly 700, was only 2nd Team All-NSIC.

There's plenty of competition in Dean's league, but through two campaigns as Sioux Falls' starting quarterback, he has asserted himself as one of the top dual-threat playmakers in Div. II football.

Dean embarks on 2025 with 1,411 rushing yards and 14 scores, while racking up another 4,253 and 41 through the air. Should he cut down on interceptions — he threw 10 and 11 in 2023 and 2024 — Dean could find himself in the Harlon Hill Trophy conversation.

Braeden Fuller, Angelo State

Last season's recipient of the JW Rollins Award, presented to the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Braeden Fuller, returns in 2025 looking to captain Angelo State to another league championship.

Fuller posted 2,318 yards on 163-of-287 passing with 19 touchdowns against only two interceptions. Complementing Fuller's aerial precision is a game-breaking rushing ability that produced 678 yards on the ground with 10 scores last season.

His seven-touchdown performance in a November win over West Texas A&M put a fitting exclamation point on both Fuller's award-winning individual campaign and made a statement in the Rams' perfect LSC slate.

Jett Huff, Central Oklahoma

After toiling for two seasons deep on the Houston Cougars' depth chart, Jett Huff transferred to Central Oklahoma with an opportunity to show what he could do at the collegiate level.

And all the College Station, Texas, native did was put up some of the most eye-popping numbers at any division or subdivision.

Huff became a Super Region III nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2024, throwing for 3,396 yards and 30 touchdowns. The Bronchos put up 44.4 points per game with Huff at quarterback, the third-highest output in Div. II football.

UCO should again boast one of the most potent attacks in the game in 2025, and Huff should be at the forefront of the Harlon Hill race throughout the fall.

Cooper Jordan, West Chester

A stalwart for West Chester, Cooper Jordan heads into his fourth season quarterbacking the Rams offense. Jordan broke into the first string as a freshman in 2022, then took over as the full-time leader of the offense a season later.

In three years at West Chester, Jordan rushed for 1,922 yards with 17 touchdowns and approached breaking the exclusive 1,000/1,000 club with 916 yards on the ground in 2024.

Last season was also Jordan's best as a passer with 1,948 yards and 15 scores. Expect even more from the reigning PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year in his final go-around guiding the Rams.

Kennedy McGill, Central Washington

As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Kennedy McGill worked his way into Central Washington's starting quarterback role for the Wildcats postseason push. Having earned the job ahead of 2024, McGill followed up by earning All-LSC recognition and rushing for more yards than any other quarterback in Div. II.

McGill's 1,206 yards ranked 12th among all Div. II ball-carriers and he reached paydirt 12 times. The CWU quarterback added 15 touchdowns against only five interceptions and 1,724 yards on 134-of-222 passing.

Mason McKenzie, Saginaw Valley State

The GLIAC Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2024 Mason McKenzie asserted himself as one of the most prolific dual-threat playmakers in Div. II football through his first full season at Saginaw Valley State.

McKenzie debuted in 2023 making three appearances in clean-up duty, then took on the starting quarterback job in 2024. He thrived, passing for 14 touchdowns with only four interceptions and racked up more than 2,000 yards.

McKenzie carried for another 662 yards on 5.7 an attempt. And while McKenzie's productive, multifaceted game helped guide the Cardinals to seven wins in 2024, his impact may be best reflected in a loss. Against top-ranked and eventual national champion Ferris State, McKenzie passed for 187 yards with a score while carrying for another 90 yards with a touchdown.

Drew Nash, Western Colorado

Drew Nash heads into his third season as Western Colorado's starting quarterback having passed for more than 5,100 yards in his career. He improved upon an impressive 2023 of 2,447 yards and 19 touchdowns with 2,676 and 25 in 2024.

Nash also bumped his rushing production up from 324 yards in 2023 to 569 yards and doubled his scoring production with eight touchdowns in 2024 from four the season prior.

Nash's outstanding quarterback play powered Western Colorado to 11 wins and an NCAA Div. II Playoffs appearance last year. In 2025 with continued growth from its playmaker, Western Colorado could be a title contender.

Dylan Ramirez, North Greenville

In 2024, North Greenville broke through for its best conference mark since joining the Gulf South in 2018 and posted the program's most total wins since 2016.

Ramirez earned All-Gulf South recognition with his best numbers through three seasons as North Greenville's quarterback. His 2,424 yards and 18 touchdowns were both career-highs, while his four interceptions were the fewest Ramirez has thrown in three campaigns.

Jack Strand, MSU Moorhead

A 2024 1st Team All-Northern Sun selection and honorable mention All-American, Jack Strand finished second nationally in passing yards per game (311) behind only Harlon Hill Trophy winner Zach Zebrowski.

Strand's 3,421 total passing yards ranked fourth in Div. II football and are the second-most among returning quarterbacks in 2025, trailing only fellow top Div. II quarterback honoree Jett Huff.

With the program record-setting Strand at the controls, the Dragons should be NSIC contenders in 2025 — which in turn means MSU Moorhead can contend for a national title.

Individually, the 6-foot-5 Strand has the size and arm strength to parlay his outstanding collegiate career into some professional looks as this campaign progresses.

Kyle Walljasper, Minnesota-Duluth

Earning Harlon Hill Trophy nominations in both 2023 and 2024, Kyle Walljasper heads into 2025 perhaps on the precipice of claiming Div. II football's most prestigious individual honor.

Walljasper combines accurate passing, throwing for 44 touchdowns against only eight interceptions in the previous two seasons, with explosive ball-carrying. He rushed for 1,071 in 2023, breaking into the elite 1,000/1,000 club, and has run for a total of 35 scores in three seasons.

The Bulldogs have also gone 24-9 in three seasons with Walljasper behind center. Their best finish yet could be in store as the talented veteran puts a final punctuation mark on a stellar career.
