Iowa Wrestling commit Bo Bassett defeated NCAA finalist Beau Bartlett 1-0 by decision in the 2025 Senior World Team Trials Challenge quarterfinals on Friday, securing his spot in the semifinals for the freestyle 65 kg weight class.

Both Bassett and Bartlett gained a bye in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals, and with Bassett’s win, he will move on to face another NCAA finalist, Brock Hardy of Nebraska.  

Although he’s just a rising high school senior, Bassett has been taking the reins of the wrestling world with his impressive consistency on the mat, which proved true against Bartlett. He already has a U20 world bronze medal under his belt and went undefeated against third-place U.S. Open finisher Aden Valencia last year. He could very well work his way through the Senior World Team Trials Challenge bracket without a scratch.
