Spencer Lee's High School Record: A Near-Perfect Career

Olympic athlete, World champion, NCAA champion, Big Ten champion, Pennsylvania state champion. Spencer Lee has been called every single one of those titles.

Whether its his silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games or his multiple World Wrestling Championship gold medals, Lee has accomplished a lifetime of wins at a mere 26 years old.

But well before he was on the world stage in Paris, Lee was taking on a much smaller stage in Murrysville, Penn.

In his time attending Franklin Regional High School, Lee would become a three-time Pennsylvania state champion.

Lee had a stellar career in high school, reaching the final match of his time at Franklin Regional with a scot-free record of 144 wins and zero losses.

That is, until he suffered his first, last and only loss in high school at the PIAA Championship to his would-be collegiate teammate, Austin DeSanto.

The loss would leave Lee with an overall high school record of 144 wins and one loss.

Spencer Lee High School Record

Spencer Lee ended his high school career with an overall record of 144-1, suffering his one loss to Austin DeSanto in the PIAA Championship match.

The match was Lee's last match in his high school career.

Lee recorded three championship wins at the PIAA Championships.

What's The Story Behind Spencer Lee's One Loss?

A 6-5 decision in the Pennsylvania High School Wrestling Championships led to Lee losing to DeSanto, accounting for the single loss in Lee's high school career.

But beyond the devastating mark on his record, the loss would go on to fuel both Lee and DeSanto's collegiate careers.

DeSanto and Lee didn't know it at the time, but that match would eventually lead them to wrestle together at the University of Iowa, taking the team to monumental heights.

The entire story behind Spencer Lee and Austin DeSanto's fateful match and collegiate careers is explored in FloSports' documentary "Spencer & Austin: Wrestletown, USA"
