Jansen Gomes did what few expected and emerged from the 2023 IBJJF World Championships black belt middleweight division with the gold medal after stunning performances in victory over Tainan Dalpra and Tye Ruotolo. 

The third seeded Gomes won in the finals over Dalpa by way of tiebreaking advantages, 0x0, 2-0, handing Dalpra his first loss in his IBJJF black belt career.
